While there are many social media posts touting stories about Florida stimulus checks 2023, there have been no official stimulus updates from the government.

However, if you’re facing financial hardship, there are many resources available to explore. From food benefits like SNAP to rental help from the HUD, there are many ways to ease your burden.

Is There a Florida State Stimulus Check in 2024?

There’s no Florida state stimulus check coming in 2024. However, Governor Ron DeSantis has proposed over $1.1 billion in Tax relief for Florida residents for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

The proposed recommendations include a one-year exemption on assessments, fees, and taxes for Homeowners Insurance Policies, which can reduce average insurance premiums by up to 6%. A permanent sales tax exemption for over-the-counter pet medications and a permanent exemption on Flood Insurance Policies can also deliver additional savings over the year.

Florida Stimulus Before 2023

Before 2023, eligible Florida residents also received three Economic Impact Payments starting in the Spring of 2020. The payments were issued to counteract the financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. These were one-time payments, and there are no plans for a fourth payment.

“The stimulus payments in Florida were very generous and really helped those that qualified in lower income brackets during a time that consumers were really struggling,” says Teresa Dodson, founder of Greenbacks Consulting.

You may have received a Florida stimulus check in 2023 if you filed your income tax returns late. The first two rounds of stimulus checks were authorized by the Trump Administration, while the third round was authorized by the Biden Administration.

Who Is Eligible for Florida’s Stimulus Check?

Individual tax filers with an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less and married couples filing jointly with an adjusted gross income of $150,000 or less were eligible to receive the full Economic Impact Payments. The amount was reduced by $5 for every $100 above these income thresholds.

Single filers with income of over $99,000 and joint filers without children with income of over $198,000 for the tax year were not eligible. Railroad retirees and Social Security recipients who aren’t required to file an income tax return were also eligible.

How Much Do You Receive And When?

During the first round of stimulus payments, individuals with an income of up to $75,000 received $1,200, while married couples with an income of up to $150,000 received $2,400.

The second round of payment included $600 for individuals, $1,200 for married couples, and $600 for dependents under the age of 17 in December 2020.

The third round of stimulus was another $1,400 for individuals and $2,800 for married couples. Payments were issued in March 2021.

How To Apply for Florida’s Stimulus Check

Most people who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the Florida stimulus checks received the payments without taking any action. The IRS automatically sent the payments to those eligible based on the information in their tax return.

The payments were deposited into the same bank account specified for your tax refund through direct deposit. You may have received a paper check if you didn’t opt for direct deposit for tax refunds.

What To Do if You Did Not Receive Your Stimulus Check

While most eligible taxpayers have already received their stimulus checks, if you haven’t received one or more Economic Impact Payments, you may still be able to claim a Recovery Rebate Credit.

Check your Internal Revenue Service online account on IRS.gov. The Tax Records page will provide you with information about the full amounts of the payments for which you are eligible. If you didn’t receive the first or second stimulus payments, you can file your 2020 federal tax return to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit.

If you haven’t received the third stimulus check, you’ll need to review Letter 6475 to find the total amount of payment you qualify for and file your 2021 federal income tax return to claim the credit.
